Kyle Goen's Bio
Born in Bakersfield, California, Kyle Goen lives and works in New York City. By means of found imagery and repurposed national symbols Goen reinterprets social justice themes in various ways from satirical use of state power to more literal illustrations of war and protest. Goen’s work utilizes a range of media and social contexts including painting, screen-printing, and installation as well as t-shirts, posters and stickers in order to question our cultural and political environment.
the 2000 election was not the first time Goen used his work to address political or social justice themes; his first installation show “By A Jury of One’s Peers†in 1992 addressed the “Not Guilty†verdict of the four officers who beat Rodney King.
